Im Rahmen der Guest Lectures des Interdisziplinären Medienwissenschaftlichen Zentrums (IMZ) der FAU findet am Mittwoch, den 1. Juni 2016, 18:00 Uhr in KH 2.019 (Universitätsstraße 15, 91054 Erlangen) ein Vortrag zum Thema „Transmedia Culture and Global Networking“ von Prof. Carolina Fernández Castrillo (Madrid Open University) statt.

In the second decade of the XXIth century, the advent of digital media presents an essential challenge to our understanding of visual representation, of narrative and indeed the whole culture of the moving image. In fact, the impact of electronic technologies on visual art has affected the ways of production, distribution and communication alloverthe world. The user plays a decisive role in creating and viralizing transmedia content across social platforms and networks. The consolidation of a participatory culture has originated a new media landscape characterized by collaborative procedures based on the search for new creative sources and economic support. We will adopt a Media Archaeological approach, offering a framework for understanding the influence of “new” media in contemporary culture and society.

Carolina Fernández Castrillo is an Associate Professor of Transmedia Studies and Digital Culture at Madrid Open University (UDIMA). Guest Professor in the Master of Visual Media at IE School of Communication (Spain); and the DoctoralProgram in Media Studies at Bayreuth Universität (Germany). She is currently visiting researcher in the Institute of Theater and Media Studies at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (Germany).
